Your Consultation at Grand Traverse Plastic Surgery
Sometimes no matter how active you are, there is one stubborn area that will not improve. During your consultation, your Board Certified plastic surgeon will listen to your concerns and present options.
Depending on the area and degree of concern, you may be a candidate for a minimally invasive procedure. If not, Grand Traverse Plastic Surgery offers cosmetic surgery of the body in outpatient surgery centers and hospitals.
Below you can learn about some of the more common cosmetic procedures.
Abdominoplasty
Commonly known as a tummy tuck, the goal of this procedure is to improve the appearance of the abdomen. Skin and fat from the belly button down to just below the bikini line are removed. If there is a separation of the muscles on your abdomen, diastasis recti , it is repaired using sutures. The main incision is usually hidden beneath the bikini line. Often this procedure is combined with liposuction for further improvement.

Mini-Abdominoplasty
Some women have a small amount of extra skin beneath the belly button and very little separation of the abdominal muscles. If this describes you, ask about a mini-abdominoplasty or mini-tummy tuck during your consultation. The mini-abdominoplasty is a much less invasive procedure than a full abdominoplasty. It involves an incision hidden in the bikini line. A small amount of skin and fat is then removed. The surgery can be done in the office and the costs are significantly lower as a result.

Liposuction and Body Contouring
Everyone seems to have one spot that just will not get better with diet and exercise. Liposuction is a technique that is used to improve the contour, shape and appearance of problem areas. During the procedure, a fluid called tumescent fluid is injected into the areas where liposuction will be carried out. Tumescent fluid is a mixture of saline, local anesthesia for pain control and epinephrine to lessen bruising and bleeding. The surgeon removes fat through tiny incisions using a special instrument called a cannula.

Mommy Makeover
A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures designed to help women get back to the way they looked before having children. Many women desire improvement in the appearance of their abdomen and breasts when they are done having children. Pregnancy can cause changes in the abdomen which never completely resolve. The breasts tend to decrease in size and droop when you are done having your children. If you want your pre-baby body back, a combination of procedures might be right for you.
